Coping with Bereavement in the school setting

This 2 hour course, in real life, aims to help teachers, staff and leaders to cope, when supporting all the school community during and after a bereavement. It will also look at supporting the wellbeing of the staff, so that they are resilient when supporting others, over a long period of time.

Understand different types of trauma. Looking at how different age groups of children process the idea and understanding of death. Supporting staff to build their own resilience when support children and young people, who are struggling with a death in the family or school community.

Course facilitator

Maire has joined the team recently and has been working for Essex County Council for 25 years. In that time Maire has worked in secondary schools and primary schools. She has been in leadership for many years and has been a Headteacher for 7 years. She has worked hard to support small, rural church schools throughout her career. She has completed many Ofsted and SIAMS inspections and enjoys supporting church schools to work closely with their local community and church. Maire is interested in the Arts and holds a degree in Music. She is also a keen swimmer.
