RE Termly Primary Workshops aim to support and develop an individual school RE Lead. Each session will include an outside speaker, opportunity for questions and answers, updates on National, Local and Diocesan RE, Creative learning strategy, engagement with key documents recently published and networking across schools.
The outside speakers across the year will address: -
- Autumn Term 2025 – Quality Provision in RE – Sarah Lane Cawte (Chair REC – Religious Education Council of England and Wales/ Chair Essex SACRE)
- Spring Term 2026 – Assessment Impact and Progress
- Summer Term 2026 – RE Curriculum
Recent updates will be shared with opportunity to respond and engage in dialogue. This will include reference to the current ‘Statement of Entitlement for Religious Education’, and Diocesan expectations in RE.
Following the workshop there will be an opportunity to book a 30minute conversation with the Diocesan RE Lead to discuss individual school RE development/ curriculum. Schools will need to directly contact Ruth Everett reverett@chelmsford.anglican.org following booking on the course and 2 weeks prior to the course to enable contact and sharing of documents / questions for discussion.
New Venue: The Cathedral CofE Primary School, Chelmsford. There is no parking at the school. Parking is available at the Riverside Retail Park opposite the school wtih free parking for a maximum stay of 3 hours per visit. The school is in walking distance frrom the train station. Access to the school is through the Victoria Road entrance.

Course facilitator
Ruth is a School Adviser and RE Lead. She has worked in Education since 1984 with the majority of time spent teaching in Essex Primary Schools in a variety of roles, leading a wide range of subjects including English and RE and Senior Leadership.
She has also spent time as a Primary Literacy Consultant involved in local and regional work on phonics and most recently involved in leading a school from special measures to good. Ruth is a qualified SENCO an area of interest that continues to be explored through the teaching of RE and working with Governors. Her experience of working with Governing bodies includes being a staff member, LA Governor and more recently a Chair of Governors on a Local Governing Body.
Ruth has served on Governing bodies as a staff member, LA governor and recently taken up the position of Chair in a local school.
Education for Ruth has always been an ongoing learning journey and in Autumn 2017 she began a research based Masters in Religion, Society and Christian Education.
Ruth particularly enjoys participating in variety of forms of worship including singing, playing a selection of musical instruments. She spends what little time she has left with family, friends, walking, reading and cross stitch.

Partnership Agreement Subscribing Schools - Free
Non-subscribing schools - For 2025-26, schools who do not subscribe to our Partnership Agreement can pay to attend in person courses. Payment is required at the time of booking on Eventbrite. If you are no longer able to attend, a refund can be requested up to 7 days before the course. Your payment, less Eventbrite fees, will be refunded to your original payment method.
