Congratulations to Delphine, a Year 4 pupil at Great Chesterford Church of England Primary Academy, who won the Blue Peter competition 'Our Planet Now'. Her winning poem 'Delphine and the Imaginary Menagerie' was selected by the judges as an imaginative and inspiring piece of writing about the need for urgent climate change action.
Delphine's prize included her poem being turned into a beautiful film created by Aardman Animations, with music from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. The animation and more information about Delphine’s story can be viewed on the CBBC Blue Peter website.
Not only was Delphine's poem turned into an animation but she was invited to Downing Street to meet Boris Johnson (and Larry the cat) to share her message.
The finished animation was shown to world leaders at COP26, the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
