Education White Paper

6 April 2022

On 28 March 2022 the Secretary of State for Education published the White Paper, “Opportunity for all”. The White Paper contains much to consider and reflect upon, as does the SEND Green Paper, which was published the following day. The White Paper outlines a key intention regarding academisation that, “by 2030 all schools will be in a strong multi-academy trust or with plans to join or form one.” The White Paper also sets out expectations around the size and nature of multi-academy trusts and raises both challenges and opportunities for the future of our schools.

As an Education Department, we are committed to the flourishing and development of all our schools with their distinctive ethos and character located in parish communities across East London and Essex. Over the coming term we will be working to review the range of options and models available as we develop our strategic response to the White Paper. In that review we will be looking to engage with our partners and schools to ensure we work collaboratively and build effective relationships for the future.

As we prepare to enter Holy Week, we pray that you will know a time of rest and renewal. Thank you for your gift of time and service enabling children to flourish in our schools.
