Being Human: A Wellbeing Day for Headteachers and School Leaders

Being Human is the Diocese of Chelmsford Board of Education’s 2026-27 theme, encouraging us to reflet on what it means to flourish as whole people created and loved by God. This Headteacher Wellbeing Day offers headteachers and school leaders a chance to step away from the demands of leadership and take time to rest, reflect and renew.

Held in the peaceful surroundings of Pleshey, the day has been intentionally designed to provide space rather than activity. There are no set expectations of participation. Instead, participants are free to spend the day in ways that best support their wellbeing, making use of the garden, chapel, library and other quiet spaces across the site. The programme will include a short opening reflection, opportunities for walking, reading, journalling, conversation and creative reflection, together with shared lunch and refreshments.

Whether you are seeking rest, perspective, inspiration or simply a place to breathe, this day offers an opportunity to reconnect with what sustains you and to prepare for the summer ahead. Rooted in the Being Human theme, the day recognises that flourishing leadership begins with attending to our own wellbeing and remembering that we are more than our roles and responsibilities.
