During Holy Week, pupils at East Hanningfield CofE Primary Academy took part in a prayerful and reflective Easter Prayer Space morning, followed by a joyful service at All Saints Church.
The Children engaged thoughtfully with four Easter‑themed activities, each helping them to explore the Easter story in a creative and meaningful way.
Activities included creating figures from pipe cleaners to reflect key people in the Easter story; writing prayers of thanks on palm leaves to link with Palm Sunday; placing their worries onto paper crosses which formed a large cross display, reflecting on Jesus carrying the cross; and considering issues of fairness by writing on paper strips that became a chain, symbolising Jesus’ unjust trial.
All classes contributed confidently to the Easter Service held in church.
Robins shared a lovely spring song, Doves retold the Easter story, Kingfishers performed Lord of the Dance, and Owls led the congregation in thoughtful poems and prayers, inviting everyone to pause, reflect and respond.
It was a meaningful and memorable opportunity for pupils to deepen their understanding of Easter and to worship together with the wider community.
