Revd Tim Elbourne to leave post as Diocesan Director of Education

25 January 2022

Please find below the following announcement from the Diocese of Chelmsford:

The Revd Tim Elbourne has announced that he is leaving his post as Diocesan Director of Education, a role he started in 2013 having previously served as Director of Education for Ely Diocese.

Tim’s time as Director of Education has been marked by significant achievements including the development of partnerships with 13 multi-academy trusts, the establishment of our own Vine Schools Multi Academy Trust, support for the creation of the London Design and Engineering University Technical College in East London, the only one in the country co-sponsored by a Church of England diocese and the establishment of our highly regarded programme for curates, to help them work with church schools. During his tenure, the Diocese also pioneered the Church Schools Leadership Course, and just last month launched the Global Majority Education Association. Tim has also recruited and developed an outstanding team of education professionals who continue to provide support to our schools, staff and students.

Tim will be greatly missed by many across our Diocese. He has decided to take some time to rest and discern where God is calling him next in his ministry. Please join us in praying for him during this time of discernment and thanking him for his service and contribution to our diocese, schools, staff and young people.

Revd Tim Elbourne

Tim will leave his role as Director of Education on 31 January. The Diocese of Chelmsford Education Team continues to serve our schools and communities.
